The Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “I AM RESPONSIBLE!” concludes after ten days of learning, cooperation and International friendships

Responsibility is not taught. It is experienced.
From 28 June to 7 July 2026, Romania, the city of Râmnicu Vâlcea became the place where 45 young people from five countries demonstrated that responsibility can be learned through shared experiences, dialogue and international cooperation.
The Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “I AM RESPONSIBLE!”, organised by the Association Tarabostes – Development through Education -ATDE and funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, brought together participants from Romania, Greece, Türkiye, Serbia and North Macedonia in an intensive non-formal education programme designed to empower young people to become more engaged, more responsible and better prepared to contribute actively to their communities.
Ten days, dozens of activities, authentic learning experiences
The mobility programme combined modern non-formal education methods with practical activities, reflection and international cooperation.
Throughout the ten days, participants explored topics such as:
- personal identity and diversity;
- empathy, discrimination and social inclusion;
- environmental responsibility;
- sustainable development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
- the responsible use of technology and its impact on society and the environment;
- active citizenship and youth participation in community life;
- intercultural dialogue and European cooperation.
The programme included interactive workshops, outdoor activities, individual and group reflection sessions, teamwork in international groups, intercultural evenings dedicated to each participating country, the creation of digital materials, as well as a cultural visit to the city of Sibiu.
More than competences
At the end of the mobility, every participant received a Youthpass Certificate, the European recognition instrument for learning outcomes achieved through non-formal education.
During the project, participants strengthened a wide range of competences, including:
- personal, social and learning to learn competences;
- citizenship competences;
- cultural awareness and expression competences;
- multilingual competences;
- literacy competences;
- STEM competences (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics);
- digital competences;
- entrepreneurial competences.
The most valuable evaluation is the one you never have to ask for
Immediately after the mobility ended, participants and partner organisations began sending messages of appreciation on their own initiative.
These reactions were not requested by the organisers and were not part of the official evaluation process. For this very reason, they represent one of the most authentic indicators of the project’s impact.
Among the messages we received were comments such as:
“This was the most delightful 10 days of my life.”
“You made this trip much more than just a trip.”
“Some people say it’s the place that makes a trip special. I think it’s the people.”
“We are already asking when the next exchange will be.”
These testimonials show that the project went far beyond its educational objectives, creating genuine relationships among young people from different cultures, built on respect, trust and cooperation.
Perhaps the project’s most important achievement cannot be measured by a certificate.
An experience that continues beyond the project
At the end of these ten days, participants returned home with much more than new knowledge and competences. They left with:
- international friendships;
- greater confidence in their own abilities;
- a deeper understanding of personal and social responsibility;
- the feeling of belonging to a European community united by shared values.
For the Association Tarabostes – Development through Education – ATDE, this is perhaps the project’s greatest achievement: responsibility did not remain simply the subject of workshops, it became a lived experience and a motivation for young people to continue making a positive contribution to their communities.
Responsibility begins with each of us
Although the mobility of the “I AM RESPONSIBLE!” project has come to an end, the experiences, competences and friendships built over these ten days will continue to inspire participants for many years to come.
