Project goal: The general objective of the project is to improve students’ environmental awareness through innovative approaches to learning. The specific objectives are establishing a functional outdoor classroom as a permanent resource of the school, and improving students’ knowledge and attitudes about the importance of environmental protection and a healthy environment.
Target group: students and teachers of Elementary School “Mirko Jovanović” in Kragujevac.
Association “Healthy and Green” is currently implementing the “Green Classroom” project in cooperation with Elementary School “Mirko Jovanović” in Kragujevac. The project responds to the underutilization of the spacious school yard for outdoor teaching and extracurricular activities. By forming an outdoor classroom, made of repaired wooden pallets as an example of sustainable use of materials, conditions are created for learning in a natural environment, in the fresh air, through practical work and experiential learning.
The project introduces the concept of learning in the natural environment as a model that connects education, environmental protection and health, and is aligned with the Environmental Protection Program of the City of Kragujevac for the period 2023-2033. year. The classroom remains available to the school even after the end of the project, with the potential to serve as an example of good practice for other schools.
Implementation period: June – September 2026.
Donor: The “Green Classroom” project was implemented with the support of the City of Kragujevac — the City Administration for Social Activities.
